Kosovo is the subject of a territorial dispute between the Republic of Serbia and the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo. The latter declared independence on 17 February 2008, but Serbia continues to claim it as part of its own sovereign territory. Kosovo's independence has been recognised by 99 out of 193 United Nations member states.
Kosovo note was created to serve as a disclaimer regarding the Kosovo independence dispute, with the main idea of preventing usage of locational entries like:

...Kosovo/Serbia,
...Serbian province of Kosovo,
...Serbia (Kosovo), etc.
This note can be used after the plain word Kosovo in the main text.

Kosovo note may be used in articles that use word Kosovo, as geographical or political indication.
