English: Sakhan (Thai script: สะค้าน) or Chakan (Thai script: จะค้าน) is Piper interruptum, a vine of which the woody parts are used in northern Thai cuisine for its slightly bitter and spicy flavour. It also reduces the "stickiness" of the latex of jackfruit when the jackfruit is used whole such as in kaeng kanun (northern Thai jackfruit curry).
