វិគីភីឌា:Link color

In Wikipedia, the color of a link shows the status of the corresponding page. The colors are the following:

 • A blue link, like this one, is a link to an article that exists within the current Wikipedia project site.
 • A red link, like this one, is a link to an article that does not exist within the current Wikipedia project site.
 • A light blue link, like this one, is an InterWikimedia link. The bright blue color is used regardless of whether or not the article actually exists at the Wikimedia project site. For example, this article of George Washington exists on this English Wikipedia project, while this article of the same subject links to the Japanese Wikipedia project. External links, like this one, will display in light blue as well.
 • A dark blue link is a link that has been explored.
 • A light red link is a link to an article that does not exist, but has been attempted to be visited.
 • Links should clearly be identifiable as a link to our readers.

The color values are as follows. The boxes may appear darker than text of the same color would appear.

Blue links: #0645AD rgb(6, 69, 173)      sample text
Light blue links: #3366BB rgb(51, 102, 187)      sample text
Dark blue links: #0b0080 rgb(11, 0, 128)      sample text
Red links: #CC2200 rgb(204, 34, 0)      sample text
Light red links: #A55858 rgb(165, 88, 88)      sample text

The actual color will vary slightly according to the operating system, settings and browser.

You can turn links a different color like so:

*<span style="color:green;">This page exists.</span>
*<span style="color:green;">This page does not exist.</span>

Which renders as:

*This page exists.

Or, if you desire existence checking you can try:

*
*

Which renders as:

You can also customize link colors by editing your CSS file.

The standard link selectors are:

 • a:link — defines the style for normal unvisited links
 • a:visited — defines the style for visited links
 • a:active — defines the style for active links; links become active once you click on them
 • a:hover — defines the style for hovered links; links hover when the mouse moves over it

Colors are defined by hexadecimal characters: see web colors.

/* standard link colors */
a:link { color: #0000FF; } /* normal unvisited links */
a:link:visited { color: #7F007F; } /* visited links */
a:link:active { color: #FF0000; } /* active links */
a:link.new { color: #FF0000; } /* new links */
a:link.interwiki { color: #3366BB; } /* interwiki links */
a:link.external { color: #3366BB; } /* external links */
a:link.stub { color: #772233; } /* hovered links */

a:link {color: #FF0000}
a:visited {color: #00FF00}
a:hover {color: #FF00FF}
a:active {color: #0000FF}

 • a:hover must come after a:link and a:visited
 • a:active must come after a:hover

Redirect links

Show redirects as green links:

a.mw-redirect {color:#308050}
a.mw-redirect:visited {color:#3070A0}

#bodyContent a.external {color: #008000}

This allows formatting such as underlines. For example:

a:link {color: #000000; text-decoration: underline; }

Possible values are:

 • គ្មាន
 • គូសបន្ទាត់ពីក្រោម
 • overline
 • line-through

This will change the link font:

a:link {font-family: monospace}
